Phil & Deirdre Gilbride
Hello, my name is Phil Gilbride. I have always had a keen interest in nature but especially horticulture. I remember as a child helping my Mother in her rose garden and as a teenager experimenting growing vegetables in an old bath at the back of our house.
In 2009 I moved to Killeshandra and set about building my own garden. Among the first things I did, was plant 8 native Irish apple trees and purchase a flock of hens.
As a Valentine’s present in 2012, my girlfriend Deirdre bought me Klaus Laintenberger’s book on growing veg. And that ignited in me an insatiable desire to plant and grow. I have maintained an extensive vegetable garden ever since.
After completing a couple of courses with Leitrim Flowers, I erected 2 large polytunnels and started a small business growing and selling cut flowers from our home. We then branched out and began specialising in growing hanging baskets and bedding plants. As demand grew my wife Deirdre and I decided to take the jump and open a Garden Centre in Spring 2019. We hope that people who visit our Garden Centre enjoy the experience, feel free to explore our garden, polytunnels, veg patch and a flock of poultry.
Our aim is to grow our small business, maintain a high standard and value for money while sharing our love for gardening and nature.
